At EAF Products, we are committed to providing products that reduce chemical exposure. Many plastics contain materials that can leach into the water and mimic or block the actions of hormones that occur naturally in the body. Published scientific papers have reported that chemicals that exhibit EA are the most prevalent and are particularly hazardous. While BPA is the most publicized chemical with EA, thousands of others are suspected to exist.
Colorants can leach into the water and some have shown Estrogenic Activity (EA) while others are untested for EA. Therefore, we don't use any colorant in our plastics, which reduces your chemical exposure.
We use polypropylene as our base plastic of choice since it has been shown to be safe, EA free and also does not impart any taste to the water.
For hard clear plastics, many companies use Tritan; this material is a replacement for Polycarbonate, which contains BPA. Tritan doesn't contain BPA, but it has been shown in laboratory conditions to exhibit EA. Click here for more information.
